Inspired by Complexity, Rooted in Simplicity.
SmPLxTies Publishing LLC was born from a mother’s love and a story thirty years in the making
Our founder began this journey with the story of her daughter, De’Ja. Born at just 24 weeks and weighing 1 pound 5 ounces, De’Ja’s life has been a testament to resilience. Today, as a woman who is blind, autistic, and non-verbal, she continues to be the heartbeat of our mission.
We realize that while every child’s journey is unique, no parent should feel they are walking that path alone. We wanted to create a mirror for children with multiple disabilities, a place where they can see themselves reflected in the pages of a book, and a bridge for parents to find an intimate, encouraging way to communicate with their children and each other.
OUR MISSION
At SmPLxTies Publishing, we believe that life is simplycomplex. We exist to give voice to untold stories and simplify the navigation of life’s most intricate experiences through the power of storytelling.
For the Family: We provide an avenue for intimate connection between parent and child, offering encouragement to those navigating similar paths of multiple disabilities.
For the Classroom: We bring representative stories into schools, fostering empathy and understanding among peers of all abilities.
For the Storyteller: We serve as a platform for those who have been overlooked. This is where we get to be all the things, where we tell our stories in our own voices, unfiltered and authentic.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
“Inspired by life’s complexity, built on a solid rock of simplicity”.
We don’t shy away from the difficult parts of the human experience. Instead, we lean into them, stripping away the noise to find the “solid rock” of truth underneath. Whether it is a children’s series inspired by De’Ja or a memoir of a life untold, we publish works that celebrate the beauty of being human, in all its complicated glory.
